About Nick Boris
Since childhood, I've been drawn to art, starting with drawings and acrylics, and evolving into a passion for digital content creation as YouTube gained popularity. This interest deepened when I received a Nikon Coolpix camera, leading me to explore photography focused on woodland ecosystems. The 2009 market crash forced my family to move to North Dakota, but at 18, I chose to stay in the Chicago suburbs, working multiple jobs to maintain independence and pursue my passions. This path of personal and professional growth took a drastic turn in 2016, when an attempt to start a door-to-door sales office in Colorado ended in failure, leaving me broke and homeless by 2017. This challenging period led me to return home, reflecting on my experiences and the decisions that shaped my journey.
In November 2017, after moving back home, I quickly realized I had two paths: restart from scratch with multiple jobs or join the military, which offered financial stability and skill development opportunities. Opting for the latter, I joined under the condition of becoming a Mass Communication Specialist. The Navy appealed to me as it offered comprehensive training in photography, videography, journalism, graphic design, and broadcasting. By April 2018, I was in Boot Camp, and by June, I was at Fort George G. Meade, MD, immersed in growing in these skills. It was during this period that my passion for photo and video was reignited, clarifying my future aspirations beyond military service.
Determined to immerse myself in narrating the essence of the outdoors, from the forest floor and its inhabitants to the adventurers scaling mountain peaks, I set a clear goal post-graduation from Mass Communication Specialist School. Deployed immediately after graduation, I returned in July 2019 and devoted every spare moment to developing this website, brand, and business. Despite facing numerous changes and challenges since 2019, my mission remains unchanged: to capture and share the stories of the outdoors and encourage others to appreciate the wilderness. Currently, I'm focused on growing my YouTube channel, sharing insights into my approach to nature photography and storytelling, with the aim of transitioning to a full-time wildlife and nature photographer and filmmaker.
